Registered Sex Offender Arrested in California, Extradited Back to Reno
Deadrin Carter is a Tier 2 sex offender who is required to register in the State of Nevada.

Carter was convicted of Statutory Sexual Seduction and Conspiracy to Commit Sex Trafficking on September 4, 2019, in Washoe County.

On August 15, 2022, and November 29, 2022, Carter was arrested in Reno, Nevada by the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit for Sex Offender Fail to Register.

Carter ultimately failed to appear in court for the two Sex Offender Fail to Register charges and two warrants were issued for his arrest.

On May 9, 2023, the Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit coordinated with the Sacramento Police Department Human Trafficking Unit and located Carter in Sacramento, California where he was arrested for the failure to appear warrants.

Carter has been extradited back to Reno and is currently being held at the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility on $40,000 bond and no bail on his warrants.

Carter has also been charged with the following crimes in Washoe County and is being held on $200,000 bond:

  • Aiming a Firearm at a Person
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person
  • Child Abuse
  • Lewdness with a child under 16

This is an ongoing regional investigation with the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit (RSONU), Regional Exploitation and Trafficking Unit (HEAT) Unit, Reno Police Department and Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.  It is requested that anyone with information about Carter to please contact the HEAT Unit at HEAT@reno.gov.

The Regional HEAT Unit is comprised of Detectives from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, Washoe County School District Police Department and University of Nevada Police Department.

The Regional Sex Offender Registration Unit (RSONU) was formed in 1998 to be compliant with federal law passed in 1997.  The RSONU is comprised of Detectives from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department and Nevada State Police Parole and Probation.
